The cheerleading competition season has begun!  The 1st paid bid to Worlds was given out at the Americheer Buckeye Open Nationals in Columbus, OH on November 3, 2012 to Cheer Extreme Large Senior Coed from Kernersville, NC. The Buckeye Open Nationals is the longest running cheerleading and dance competition in Ohio. Cheerleaders took their performances seriously and judges and spectators were rewarded with some extraordinarily talented routines.

Teams represented a total of 10 states and the participant and spectator attendance broke records. Americheer put on a highly successful competition that had the cheerleaders feeling like celebrities. Teams were interviewed after their performances and told, “At AmeriCheer & AmeriDance…we want you to feel like movie stars!”

Cheer social media news feeds went crazy last weekend as cheerleaders, coaches and even judges posted about the incredible talent levels seen at one of the first competitions of the 2012-2013 cheer season. Athletes looked confident and the competition ran smoothly.  AmeriCheer posted about the competition on their Facebook page, “The 2012 Buckeye Open Natio

nals was one of the best events at AmeriCheer & AmeriDance! The sportsmanship was unreal, the competitors were intense and the fans were awesome!” You can find the AmeriCheer Facebook page at:

One of the biggest “Must Do” activities at the competitions was the Spirit Spins. It will fulfill your lifelong desire to be on the Price Is Right and spin the wheel. It was a place where you could win prizes, get discounts, and donate money to fight cancer and aid the Ohio State University, Arthur G. James Comprehensive Cancer Center.
